Responsibilities

• Write test scripts to test software products and versions
• Test and re-test products
• Bug monitoring and control – opening, updating and closing defects
• Maintenance of own test environment
• Produce test reports detailing results
• Liaise with testing team, development team and other internal stakeholders

Knowledge / Experience / Skills required

• Knowledge database products (SQL Server)
• Knowledge of browser based software products (Internet Explorer)
• Experience of using Test Director
• Understanding of the software development lifecycle

Other requirements

• Experience in the use of automated test tools would be an advantage
• Methodical and thorough approach to testing
• Ability to work individually and as part of a team
• A creatively destructive mindset
• Good written and verbal communication skills
• Knowledge of SQL language and SQL Server would be beneficial

• Develop new functionality within core QFM4
• Develop new functionality within QFM.NETWeb
• Develop new functionality for the QFM.NETWeb UI
• Fix bugs within all of the above systems

Technical specifics of role

• Develop COM DLL’s using VB6
• Develop ActiveX controls using VB6
• Develop T-SQL objects using SQL Server 2000
• Develop Web Services using VB.Net
• Develop Web Interfaces using XSLT, XPATH, CSS, Javascript

Skills

• Experience in developing VB6 COM components
• Experience in developing/designing SQL Server 2000 objects i.e. Tables, Views, Procedures , Functions
• Some experience of Service Orientated Architectural development
  i.e. Windows Services, Web Services, SOAP
• Understanding of business systems design methodologies i.e. RAD, RUP
• An appreciation of business priorities
• Proven ability to work to strict deadlines
• Self-motivation is essential, but must be able to work as part of a team
• Ability to communicate effectively, both in writing and verbally
• Proven ability to work from specifications and design documents
